As summer comes it an unfortunate end, the Mission Chamber of Commerce would like to wind things down with a little South Texas comfort food.
The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce, along with Mercedes-Benz dealership of San Juan, will be hosting their first ever Chef’s BBQ Throwdown & Car Show!
This is a free event for all Rio Grande Valley residents and a chance for families to enjoy a night out before getting back into the groove of the school year. Because the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce supports all students, especially those who are committed to furthering their education, this event will be used as a scholarship fundraiser for students participating in any of the E-STEAM programs (Entrepreneurship, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) at either Mission CISD or Sharyland ISD. Eligible students will have an opportunity to obtain the scholarship for continuing their education.
The event is free to the public, and if you would like to sample some of the tasty BBQ from the various Chef Teams, the cost per ticket will be $10 before the event and $15 the day of. If waiting in line is not your forte, then purchase a wristband here and avoid the wait. Purchasing wristbands for you and your family means diving right into the BBQ sampling, live music, and artisan market.
The Chef’s BBQ Throwdown & Car Show is going to be one spectacular experience, as the Chamber has gathered together some of the greatest chefs and cooks from restaurants all across the Valley for one epic BBQ showdown.
Pride isn’t the only thing on the line. Participants will also be competing for title of Best BBQ Chef as well as $2,500 in cash prizes!

BBQ teams will be led by a Head Cook or Chef and will be judged in the following categories: beef brisket, chicken, pork ribs, and chef’s choice!
Everybody knows that a BBQ Throwdown and Car Show isn’t complete without a little music to liven up the mood. That’s why the Chamber has lined up an amazing set of musical performances including Chris Marshall, Matt & The Herdsmen, Matthew Aaron Band, and Midnight Run.
This family friendly event is going to have something fun for everyone! There will be a car show for all of you car lovers and other delicious food vendors besides the BBQ stations. The event will also include inflatables, kids games, face painting, and a fire truck for kids to take pictures.
